This meshes with what I heard yesterday. I called many dealers in multiple states and spoke to Sales MANAGERS to try to speed up this process (I placed my order in Feb at a mid tier local). They ALL said they had received 0 allocations.
I tried to pump them for info and had luck with some. One gave some color on the internal metrics that let some dealers get more allocations than others. 1 very open and honest manager spoke to me at length and laughed when I said GM had been blindsided by the chip shortage. She said basically the Camaro is a REAL slow seller and that is why the factory is down.
The facts bear her out as we have seen posted already chevy only sold 7,000 Camaro's in TOTAL for the 1st quarter! That is only 25% of peak demand from years past and there was no shortage of them on lots.
Now time for some LOGIC and NUMBERS in the official charts linked below for USA SALES/PRODUCTION >>>In May 2014 the factory pumped out 10,340 in 1 month! In May 2015 the factory pushed out 9,753. Chevy can easily cover all our orders which don't amount to a hill of beans in 1 week and they will have over 2 months before making 22's.
That's the reality
