It took me a little over 2 hours to get to Atco from my place this morning. I got there around 9:40am and the line to get in was at least 2.5 miles long. Both my friends were ahead of me at different spots along the line. It took 2 hours for my first friend to get in, but my other friend and I weren't so lucky.
We were told they closed the gates because they were "at capacity".
So now, it's a little after noon... I've got one friend going back to Maryland empty handed, and the other by himself at the track I invited him to.
I'm determined to get at least one run in somewhere. Island Dragway is closer to home and I checked the website, it said they were open. OK - so I go there... +2.5 hours later, I finally reach the track. (I'm now 6.5, almost 7 hours on the road now - and completely exhausted.)
The good news: despite getting there so late, I was able to get 2 runs in and met some really cool people.
The bad news: I was so tired from all the traffic and driving around, I forgot how to shift.
Run1 (missed 2nd gear, aborted the run - but got back into it when I realized it was a 2018+ Honda Accord in the other lane lol).
60' = 2.218
1320 = 14.202
MPH = 108.00
Run2 (missed 3rd gear, but kept the throttle pinned until I found the gate, kept the Audi SQ5 at bay the entire time)
60' = 2.316
1320 = 13.399
MPH = 111.99
DA for the 2nd run was around 1,515 ft. Bottom line: need more practice, need a better tire, need to go to the track on a day when it doesn't get shut down due to "capacity".
