i dont experience it on my computers either because i have a sensible firewall sitting between my network and the internet that deals with untrusted domains.
My work laptop however runs over a vpn and that does not have such filters. So yea...these interstitial/modal type ads are common and frequent. And 100% ineffective at their job.
