Yeah, esp if you are using the hard part limits as your redline. If your rods can hold 700ftlbs at 5k, why not try to keep it at 700 ftlbs all the way to 7k. If your turbo doesnt start choking or you have a fuel limit... your idea makes sense.

I believe the guys setting all the sbe records did something similar. They kept all the power out until after peak torque. This allows high hp with less strain on parts.
