If a car isn’t doing it, doing the TSB would prevent it from ever happening. If it did in the past, and doesn’t do it now, it’s been fixed. Even if it did it after the fix, if still under PTW and a history of the issue might be cause for a TC or full trans replacement now that they know what caused it.
The cars that had this before the known cause and fix were the ones that suffered the most, and anyone who keeps driving it once it starts isn’t doing themselves any favors. There’s been threads here where people say that exact thing, “mine’s been doing it for 6 months but I don’t have the time to take it in, blah blah blah”.

I just think to avoid A8 cars just because the A8 is silly now that the problem and fix is well known.
While everything you've stated is accurate, I've seen too many dealerships interpret the warranty their own way and tell you things like that aren't included - especially if you didn't buy the car from them. My ex has a Traverse that had a variety of issues that we noticed shortly after delivery that gave a lot of concern that it was a "5 o'clock Friday car." We got the local rep involved and GM extended the bumper-to-bumper to 5/60.

Within 10k miles, it went in a couple of different times because the transmission wasn't shifting smoothly. Of course, they couldn't find anything until (I kid you not) about 59,800 miles. They determined the transmission was toast and processed it through the extended bumper-to-bumper instead of submitting as a POWERTRAIN warranty that would have covered it directly.

I also agree the ruling out an automatic "just because" of an old issue that now has a resolution should be reconsidered to where they can at least be taken into consideration and researched to see if the issue had been addressed already.
