OP is definitely looking at a smaller pool of possible cars, but the M6 has a lower price point is arguably (by those like myself that enjoy a manual transmission) MUCH more fun if you enjoy that sort of thing.

My ‘16 still has PT warranty left, so maybe half of the 16’s still would. Virtually all ‘17+ would still have PTW left, the one he was looking at still had about 28 months left on it.
If a car isn’t doing it, doing the TSB would prevent it from ever happening. If it did in the past, and doesn’t do it now, it’s been fixed. Even if it did it after the fix, if still under PTW and a history of the issue might be cause for a TC or full trans replacement now that they know what caused it.
The cars that had this before the known cause and fix were the ones that suffered the most, and anyone who keeps driving it once it starts isn’t doing themselves any favors. There’s been threads here where people say that exact thing, “mine’s been doing it for 6 months but I don’t have the time to take it in, blah blah blah”.
I just think to avoid A8 cars just because the A8 is silly now that the problem and fix is well known.
