I’m coming out of a C7 Z06 with Michelin Pilot Sports, which sucked below 40F and in wet conditions but gripped like hell from mid June to mid July, lol.
When looking at a used ZL1, I talked with a friend and tire guru who also owns a ZL1 and he recommended the Continental Extreme Contact Sports as a more All-Season Performance tire. I decided to pull the trigger and had the dealer put the Conti’s on and since taking delivery I’ve been REALLY happy.
With the same HP, my Z06 used to kick out on me all the time. Nearly put it sideways into a semi at highway speeds. Scary stuff but i managed. With the Conti’s, driving in melting snow (wet) conditions and cool morning temps, these have been consistent and really solid. And quiet. I have not been going WOT because of the temps, but these have not broken loose on me once even when driving “spirited”, whereas the Michelin’s would break loose any time I accelerated whenever it was cool or wet.
Check them out. Highly recommend.
