The 6th gens might have twice (or more) as many gears but I'm not sure if the ratios are the same. I'm thinking there was a pretty tall final drive ratio on the older cars.

My daily trip to/from work is about 27 highway miles and that's where I get mileage between 25-29. If I take any highway drive that's longer I'll easily get above 30 mpg's. Prev. 2SS 6th gen with A8 was easier to get better because they didn't have the 3.73 gearing that the 1LE has. Long time ago, had a '96 Corvette LT4/6spd that averaged 26. (Really miss that car
