I know they are decently capable but another thing to remember that it's a lot of BMW. Not a great thing when it comes to reliability down the road. I know Toyota has worked on making it more reliable but it's too early to tell.
LGX, LT1 and LF4 all have a few years on them now and so if they have any issues, they should be well known now.
And better car? Not so much compared to SS 1LE. Maybe the GR is more capable? But that's also a bit more expensive.

If you are into modding then LF4 can be pretty a better choice as there is a lot to be gained just from tuning and ethanol fuel. I am not so I chose the C7 and Camaro SS.
And yeah, used examples go for a decent price.
