I'm told that the high side fuel pump in the engine block can't flow enough fuel to support an 85% ethanol mix - 60% E is the most flow rate it can support. Ethanol has a lower energy density than gasoline so more volume of ethanol is needed for the same amount of energy created by combusting the fuel.

If you could somehow raise the maximum volumetric flow rate of the high side DI pump then maybe more HP could be had.
