Just put R888R on my stock A10
After replacing my warped wheel I changed out my tires at 12.5k miles from factory to 285/30/20 and 315/30/20 R888Rs. I live in Texas and I use the car as a daily putting a couple thousand miles on the car a month. Dynoed at 560 whp. Here are my remarks in case anyone is curious.
This will be a comparison with the stock good years supercar 3s. Background I live in Houston, Texas where it is almost summer year long. I roll race quite a bit and do dig races (prepped surface but not a strip) every weekend.
The goodyears when fresh would have wheel spin from anything below 3rd gear on a roll. A 50 roll is where I benefitted most, but sometimes a little wheel spin occurred there. From a dig the tires with launch control on default settings were basically useless. It spins like crazy. To remedy this I do a burnout 4-5s until smoke is coming from the tires. When warmed like this they stick pretty well, but the launch is still not perfect. It will still bog occasionally though sometimes it had hero launches.
The R888R. Starting at around 100 miles the tires stick from basically any speed. As long as you've driven around for 5-10 minutes to get them a little warm (32-34psi) the grip is mindblowing. 2nd gear pulls at 30mph are no issue at all.
Last night I got about 15-20 hard launches in. The tires currently have about 180 miles(2 days old) on them. The launch is incredible. Instead of doing a burn out I stomp on the gas at about 5 mph with all the nannies off and hold on the gas until the tires stick, then reverse back to the line. Out of all the launches I did wheelspin was noticeable on maybe 1-2 launches and then it hooked quickly after. Despite it being around 50 degrees out it just kept sticking everytime I gunned it. It was so confidence inspiring I let a few friends launch it as well and they had no issues either.
Lateral grip is incredible around turns as well, they stick so well it feels like the grip is endless. Triggering performance shift on turns is very easy on these.
I know many have spoken praise on this tire, but I wish to add another review for anyone still wondering about them. There is one issue though. The noise. You hear the tires above 40mph and it only gets louder from there. Driving on the interstate you hear a constant hum as if you're driving next to an 18 wheeler. Do not let anyone tell you it isn't noticeable because it is. Perhaps with a headers and exhaust you won't hear it as much, but when gunning it and going above 100mph they will certainly remind you they're there. I do believe this is livable however, at least for me it serves as a constant reminder I have a kind of "super" tire that keeps the car very planted.
Thanks for reading. I just want everyone to know these tires were certainly worth the money (at least for now. Hopefully my launches weren't too taxing on the tire life.)
