Originally I used the VIN from a black ZL1 and got a gloss black that I was going to leave black as I have black mirrors and was going black door handles, but the black antenna looked like a huge pimple so I gave 3 different dealers 3 different VINS of 3 different color cars and unfortunately they all seem to be the same p/n so had to paint the black one. Took 2 times (wrong white first time around).
Then there was someone's thought that it would be easier to get the "jumper" cable from the mirror to the antenna camera.....WRONG.....different connection entirely. So I routed the cable from where the original spoiler camera connection is beside the trunk latch to the roof. And you guessed it......I followed and TAPED just like the like the factory with that cloth like factory looking tape mind you, using the same path of that factory wiring harness.
The hardest part is doing all of the "connection" work in that narrow "slot" of an opening that you have to work in with the headliner!
Breaking those connections is a bear in that "slot" and space you have to work in.....being a contortionist helps.....but it was hard on this 65yo body that already has some "chassis" issues....
Used some 3M VHB squares to secure some of the wires to the roof structure (the rubberized sticky bastard patches GM used were pretty much toast after I finished with them). So.....a REAL PITA.....but it's done and works.....just wish there was just ONE more setting on the rearview to back it out 1X farther......in fact I was like OH NO......but I hooked the stock camera back up, and it's the same magnification.....friend's C8 I feel has that 1x more outward view, but I could be mistaken on that.
And Mr OCD that I am.....that black grommet thing on the camera.....yeah it came out to paint......caution.....another PITA....bastard clips on the inside of the housing!

Finished my removal this morning. Had to take that cloth tape off the connectors, so I could see how they went together. Needed an extra set of hands, so the wife was laying in the trunk, while I pushed the release, and she pulled the plug. I couldn't get both hands up there. Waiting on the new fin and cable. There must have been a change to the trim pieces, because in the youtube video, there were two different trim pieces, they removed. Mine was all one piece. So far, not a difficult process, just no room to maneuver.
Yes, you wind up destroying that GM sticky pad they have holding the connectors to the roof.
I am thinking of getting that small black conduit and wrap the new cable to prevent it from rubbing on the metal.
