While I agree with you about the lower number, especially for warm weather where it takes less time for the motor to warm up, I'd worry it could be a reason to be denied warranty coverage if the motor blows up with the 5w-40 dexos2 in it. I should probably look at the owner's manual/performance supplement to see if GM has recommended a range of acceptable dexos1 or 2 oils as opposed to specific grades.
