I went the other way, I own a ZLE and had a Z28 for a weekend to compare. They are two different cars, different enough that if I could own both I would. I will say, to me (a novice track enthusiast) the ZLE feels more balanced, planted and overall more solid. That's not to say the Z28 is not a beast in its own right, more raw and certainly still a blast to drive.
My ZLE is my first experience with owning am american sports car so take my opinion for just that.
Tho the only 5th gen that ever even turned my head was the Z28, so i diffidently still like the car, but after seeing and driving the ZLE, I knew which I was going to choose.
