I wanted more creature comfort as well as better handling and ride. My ZL1 would smoke the Z/28 with it's 10 speed and handles even better. I really like all the features of the ZL1, especially the Hud. The 10sp w/ paddle shifters is a hoot to drive. In sport mode the engine is constantly in the power band always knowing what gear to be in. Can't say enough good about the tranny. The magnet ride is much better and changes with the mode you are in.

Many talk about collectability of the Z/28. Are you willing to wait that long? Cars are not good investments, if that's on your mind for owning it. Yes, they are more rare than the ZL1 but, so aren't the ZL1E. In the end, it's all about your expectations and wants. You need to at least drive one to know. Good luck on your decision.
Wait how long? The price of the Z/28 has climbed by 10-12k in the last few months alone....that time is already here

Rarity wise; you are comparing the ZLE, which has more built every year than the Z/28 ever had built...its not really a comparison.
The one thing I wish I could port over from my ZL1 is the A10; otherwise, I can live without the amenities. Those I really need or want (a carpeted trunk, homelink, android auto, and performance measurements), I can add for fairly cheap to the Z/28.
BUT, to be fair, I've had 2 6th gens, and didn't really fall in love with either one. One lasted 3 mos in the driveway ('16 2SS), and the other 6.5 mos ('17 ZL1). Both went away to get a Z/28 ('16 for a '15; and the '17 for a '14). The 6th gens just don't grow on me; they are actually the first camaro I haven't fallen in love with or liked all that much outside of the 2nd version of the 2nd generation (which I have also owned lol).
