You can do it Martin. Tell the wife and kids your hanging out with the boys having a few beers and BBQ. If she wonders why you are taking your helmet just say dear we might play a little football also. She'll be ok with that. Just don't forget to hide the time slips. I've never done this but it sounds good to me.
