I work at a dyno shop. Not sure what you mean by there is "no setup" but I assume he was talking about strapping it down, which is important to consistent results. The changes in pressure applied with definitely have an affect. Many things can make a difference, and while the correction factor tries to even things out, it isn't the end all be all and doesn't always accurately account for things like timing pull due to conditions. Spent a lot of time on our dyno with my c63 and have witnessed a 23 HP loss between making runs in early March and late May, same mods. There are a lot more variables than people think and even little things like spraying belt dressing on the tires before a run can make a big difference in the results .
Imo a dyno is really good for a tuning session but comparing runs from different days or months isn't really that beneficial. Just too many variables.
