This was my experience also and it tainted superchargers for me.
I swapped in a Lingenfelter HX, with dual cooling fans, and added a coolant reservoir. At the drag strip, the HX fans and circulation pump could be run on a timer with the engine off to speed cool down. Still, it was downhill after the first pass unless the car sat half the day.
I’ve hot lapped my 2SS LT1, three passes, on a slow Sunday afternoon and it ran the same time all three laps. Weight and heat soak with the gen5 ZL1 were top motivators for selling it with only 4K miles for a gen6 2SS.
