Other (better) oils such as Amsoil, Castrol Edge etc have add packs that meet or exceed European standards every bit as stringent, if not more so - and it's usually only an issue for extreme drain intervals or cars that sit for months

Change your oil every 4-5k (or according to UOA), keep fuel and other contaminants out to the extent possible, and any modern brand name full synthetic will do very well. This is a low stress engine compared to all these 2.0 L motors revving to 8k running 20+ psi

I run Amsoil Signature series 5w30 on the street and Mobil1 15w50 at the track. I agree that there's some price gouging going on, especially on oils branded Dexos2.
