I just know and have seen how easy it is for a car manufacturer to deny a warranty repair. I don't disagree that there are plenty of quality oils that have proven Blackstone reports that are less expensive and more readily available that would perform fantastic. If something were to happen, I definitely am not in a position to hire an attorney to defend me and go after GM for repairs. While it's under warranty, I bring them my own oil and filter and pay them $15 in labor to change it so there is a paper trail. The last two times they didn't charge me anything because I always give them a 100% survey. The track spec oil is the only one that's "expensive" anyway. You can run Costco 5/30 for $2.49 a quart! There's also other great 5/30's like Pennzoil Euro L 5/30 Dexos for $22 for 5 quart jugs.
