The flu shot itself will NOT make you sick. You're being injected with a non-active, dead version. It does take a couple of weeks to be effective. If you do get sick around the time of the shot, you were going to get sick anyway you just probably haven't had the symptoms yet. It takes a few days of it being in your system for symptoms to show. However, the nasal mist IS active and you can infect others...which makes me scratch my head as to why it's even available in that form to begin with? shrugs...
The H1N1 hype is rediculous to me. The regular flu kills over 30,000 a year. The flu sucks in any shape or form. And if your immune system is compromised you're more at risk of developing complications period. Get the shot, don't get it. No one is forcing you.
Complications can arise from anything, anytime. An example being Influenza A causing brain swelling that caused dilirium.
