If the engine is going to live at 7k+ rpm in a racing application then the Johnson 2110's are the go to for a drop in lifter. If it's the week end car that will see spirited driving with a some WOT blasts or occasional track use then the 6504's will be fine. The Johnson is superior for sustained high rpm use. Both are a step up in their ability to handle heavier springs and more aggressive cam lobes compared to the LS7's.
