I've seen the changes in the tunes as I've come across the newer model year cars. It can be applied to any 2014-2018 Corvette or 2016-2018 Camaro in the same manor or even more aggressive.
I don't know for sure if GM's sole reason was for more crackles but when looking at the tunes it sure looks like that was the effort.

This is good to hear. I wonder if the ZL1's pops are on the level of the SS's. Well I'll know soon enough, but the wait is getting rough!
