The same observations here in the Bay Area. The average speed on the freeways now is about 90 - 95 MPH. I don't mind though, I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy to be cruising in the 90 MPH range, usually a little higher because I like to go a little faster than traffic around me for better situational awareness and to keep cars out of the rear corner view. I do not like to pace traffic.
Where it becomes an issue though are those that do it in a reckless manner OR in an old car not designed for those speeds.
