I haven't been driving ATM but I have been suspicious of the optical.
Several times while tweaking and putting the car back together etc. The stuff all comes to life but no audio passes. Unplugging/replugging the optical causes the audio to start immediately.
I haven't done any troubleshooting to determine if it is my DSP or the Zen. The last few times I have gone out there to see how it is doing, it has worked fine.
What DSP do you have? I have the AudioControl DM-608.
