Your desire seems to be more for a Z28. You should probably start looking for one of those to get that thrill you want back. As for me, I want to win, and look good doing it, while driving in comfort. So the ZL1 for me!
Oh it definitely is. I actually found the Z/28 to be MUCH more comfortable; it was my daily. The ZL1 isn't comfortable at all too me honestly, I like the old style recaros better, and really the ZL1 doesnt ride any better to me, with the notable exception of speed bumps (and the fact I can actually drive straight over a speed hump in the road instead of waiting on traffic to pass and going at an angle lol) - which I really do like that aspect better. You can get a Z/28 and make it as fast or faster for cheaper than what it costs for the ZL1 (which is what I did last time), and they look better imo (I'm actually not a big fan of the 6th gen looks; not that they are ugly, I just like the 5th gen looks better). So ironically, for me the Z/28 gives me those advantages you are looking for, but in a rare car that isn't a dime a dozen.
I didnt intend to get rid of mine. It was supposed to be put into auction since it was modified and I was going to buy it right back, but they went and sold it even though they said they couldnt (fkrs).

I think I might go check out a ZLE though, since its the evolution for the Z/28 basically, and outside of the discomfort of the seats, that may give me the raw feeling back...I can always remove the pins in the seats to get some more lean. I'm likely to buy another Z/28, I just havent decided whether I'm going to keep them both, or get rid of the ZL1...if the ZLE hits the sweet spot though, that could replace a Z/28 potentially. I just prefer the raw "you, the car, and the road" feeling. Although I had been looking at the Z06 too...wonder if I can get by w/o a back seat...maybe just strap a kid to the roof lol.
As you can tell, its all up in the air (mainly waiting on divorce to see what happens; who knows, maybe I'll end up in a 1995 ford escort GT instead lmao). I pretty much change out cars yearly anyways, so theres actually a good chance over the next few years, I'll have all of them at some point.
