IMHO there is every bit as much potential, if not more, to have a catastrophic wheel failure on the street as on the track.
The SSLE design is pretty robust, with a lot of material in the critical areas, so I don't obsess about it. For us, the ZL1 is just HPDE, so not max effort.
I do consider wheels to be a consumable if you're tracking a car... they just last a lot longer than tires or brake pads. I also inspect the wheels between trackdays... every time.
