Sorry that your tuner doesn't want you to be 100% happy with your car. People have strong opinions about the decel pops for some reason. It's your car, you should be able to do with it as you please.

1. Open your file in hptuners. Best practice is to read it from the car, but if you know for sure you have the latest, it's not the end of the world to use it.

2. Click the "Engine" icon.

3. Click the "Spark" tab.

4. Click the "Advance" sub tab.

5. There are 3 columns of stuff. In the third column, look for the heading "Minimum Spark". You will see buttons for "Base" and "Long Term". These are what you change. When you click them a big table opens up. Don't do that yet, thought.

6. Click "Compare" in the menu bar.

7. Click "Open Compare File".

8. Navigate to the file referenced in the above thread and open it.

9. In compare mode you can easily look across 2 tunes and see what is different. You can also easily copy and paste one to another. The table icons in the top ribbon allow you to switch between the tune you are working on and the compare tune. The table icon with the blue flash is the tune you are working on. The table icon with the red flash is the compare tune. The table icon with both shows differences between the tunes. You can also click "Compare" and "View Comparison Log" to see a list of differences between the tunes. No need to do it now, it's just good to know for the future.

10. Click the table icon with the red flash to access the compare tune.

11. Open the 'Minimum Final Spark" "Base" table. You'll see a big colored table. The Green/Yellow/Orange cells are the cells that are the same between your tune and the compare tune. The Pink/Purple cells are different between the 2 tunes.

12. Highlight the entire table. You can do this by clicking the empty header cell where the header row and column meet. Copy (right click on mouse and copy or ctrl+C) the entire table.

13. Close that table.

14. Click the table icon with the blue flash to switch back to your tune.

15. Open the 'Minimum Final Spark" "Base" table.

16. Highlight the entire table. You can do this by clicking the empty header cell where the header row and column meet. Paste (right click on mouse and paste or ctrl+V) the entire table.

17. Repeat steps 10-16 for the "Minimum Final Spark" "Long Term" table.

18. You will notice both have turned red. This shows that you have changed this in the tune. As an added final check, you can click the table icon with both the red and blue flashes to access the differences between the two tunes. When you open the Base and Long Term spark tables it should be full of zeros (indicating no differences).

19. Click "Compare" in the menu bar.

20. Click "Close Compare File"

21. Click "File", "Save as" and save your file as something new. As an option, prior to saving, you can click "Edit", "Calibration Details" and leave yourself a note in the "Notes" section of the "Calibration Details" tab to remind you of what you did in your tune. This is kind of a best practice, but it's up to you.

22. Put your car in service mode (without pushing the clutch or brake, press the start button for 10 seconds or so until the car electronics activate).

23. Turn your radio off, turn off Bluetooth on your phone, do not open the doors, operate the windows or push any buttons during the next steps. Make sure your laptop is plugged in (or at least has a full battery). Another best practice.

24. Connect your MPVI to your laptop and OBDII port on your car.

25. Click "Flash" then "Write Vehicle". Only write the ECM, no need to write the FSCM on this change.

26. Click "Write" and wait patiently until it is done. Do not silence or acknowledge the alerts that chime while writing it. They will stop on their own. The whole process takes 30 seconds or so (maybe less). Your car electronics will do some weird things and the infotainment display will kind of look broken. All normal.

27. When it says "Write Complete" and your car electronics displays have come back to normal, wait 20 seconds or so, then turn your car off by pushing the start button once.

28. Unplug your laptop and MPVI.

29. Start your car. For some reason, the first start after a flash doesn't work. Sounds like a dead battery. Just wait 2 seconds and try again.

30. Enjoy.

As an added bonus you can disable DFCO. You can do this by changing the Enable RPM and disable both to 8,000 rpms (see attachment). This will ensure your car never enters DFCO and keeps putting fuel into the cylinders while decelerating. It will pop like a race car. This does make driving a bit different because it doesn't slow down as much when you let off the gas. You will use the brakes a little more. It's a fairly subtle difference though. You may not have even notice it had I not told you.
