I always use the paddles on track with my A8. I think I am going to try some auto laps this year though as the A8 does seem to shift lazier in manual mode. I do like to run a gear high in some track sections and use the torque to be smooth, but I need to see if auto mode will be faster or not and how much i'll have to adjust my driving style.
I would also recommend getting wheels and tires as I never tracked the car on the runflats. I went straight to the 1LE Goodyear Supercar 3s. My car was also optioned with the 6 piston brakes so I'm not sure how the 4 pistons hold up, but I used to run the Motul 600 and now run SRF.
I run full time track alignment and even though it doesn't seem to be enough camber for me on the track, I have still corded the insides of the front tires every time. Only have 13k miles and I will be going on my 4th set of front G3s. Pic of typical tire wear for me, also my avatar pic.
