True, but that's primarily the better option for young single urban/suburban millenials. If he wanted to take the wife and kids along, the EV is the better option than a ride share service. In fact, I think many utilities offer rebates if you install a charging station at your home. Maintenance would be pretty low in comparision to a gas vehicle as well.
