I was in a similar situation when I bought my 2SS, and it was a great choice. If you want to avoid the A8 because of the potential shudder issue, it's understandable, either go for a 2019 or 2020 with the downsized A10 (it's less beefy than the A10 in the ZL1 or the A8 in the 2016-2018 SS) or get a manual trans and row those gears yourself.

The 1LE would probably be overkill for a daily driver + occasional backroad toy, my 2SS is plenty good in the twisties, too. Of course if you're the rock star driver of the canyons, do go for the 1LE

I would try to find a used 2019 with low mileage that the owner got scared of or realized they wanted a hellcat, just to avoid the initial depreciation hit on a new car. That way you'll save some $$$ for the inevitable mods down the road

Finally, do heed the advice from s346k and test drive a V6 or I4 and a V8 before committing to either---I messed up and thought the V6 I had chosen would be sufficient, which it wasn't, so I ended up paying the "live and learn" price of the upgrade.
