The A8 in the SS doesn’t downshift quick enough to pull immediately as I randomly gun it, as in manual mode it does. The power is fine.... it’s the time it takes for the car to downshift in auto mode that makes me not feel in control. There is also a “dead zone” in the pedal when in auto mode I’ve noticed, how I’m assuming it’s either for gas, or that the car is just a torque monster and GM doesn’t want you to get hurt.
You need an electric car for absolutely instant torque if that's what you're after. The A10 will also have to downshift from 9th or 10th to put you into the powerband. Granted, it'll be like 100-150 ms faster than the A8, but it's hard to believe that is a make or break for someone at your experience level. But again, it's your decision, and I'll just shut up from now on
