The one quart per 1000 miles is accurate. I have had that quoted that to me by both GM and Subaru dealerships.
I think traditionally the low mark on any oil dipstick is 1 quart. I dont have data on that but 30 years owning cars....and I pumped gas for years in high school and worked as a car mechanic for a few years.
I would also check your oil with the car warmed up let it sit 10 mins then check. Currently ALL 7 cars I own read 1 quart over ice cold. I change the oil myself in 5 of them. The only one I'm not sure of is the Camaro its to new to me and I never changed the oil on it myself.
