I bought my car off the lot with the HUD option, I could have taken it or left it, but it was there.
When it was new I used it but after time I just keep it turned off. If I had the option to configure what it displayed, I would probably utilize it more. The shift light function is cool, but other than that I find it distracting. And annoying that it is not level with the hood / car
