They're anything but garbage. I never had a buildup problem, and to me, having to clean the dust a bit more often in exchange for supreme braking performance is a pretty good tradeoff.
This is not to say OP's problem can't be caused by dust buildup, it's definitely worth checking along with the suspension and alignment.
