This is a misconception and not accurate. The ZL1 fuel system is more than enough to run E85 up to about E60 with no issues. Just need a shop that knows how to tune and can adjust the SOI and EOI.
I have a 2017 SS 1LE with a Procharger D1SC and the full LT4 fuel system from tank to engine. I made over 630rwhp while running E40, I will get near 700rwhp once I put E60 in the car.
As for the OP, all you need to do is call Jeremy at Skidmark garage and order his plug and play E85 kit and install it. It will take less than an hour of time, then once installed take the car to your favorite tuning shop and pay them to turn on the E85 sensor and setup the tune. Then you can run E85 or gas at your leisure.
The only thing I would suggest is to ramp up the E85 slowly, start at say E40 and move up in 5 increments while logging the low and high side fuel pressure until you see it start to taper off on the high side.
You will get the vast majority of the HP gains once you hit E50 or so, after that from E50 to E80 there is only about 5-10 rwhp gains left to be had.
