Unable to program new key fob

Hey guys,

I purchased a 2017 Camaro 2SS used, and it only came with one key/fob. I bought a second key/fob from the OEM new, and attempted to follow the procedure in the manual for pairing a new transmitter if you have fewer than 2 transmitters already paired.

I was able to re-pair my original key, but the car does not seem to recognize the new key. The screen prompts me by saying it is ready to pair remote 2, I put the remote in the rear cupholder, hit the start button, and then remove the remote and press unlock, but the remote does not seem to pair. I replaced the battery that came with the remote with a fresh battery, and that did not seem to resolve the issue.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there a way to tell if a transmitter is defective?
