I stay at the Key West Marriott Beachside. The Presidential Suites are awesome! The drive from Miami is about two and a half hours and fairly boring. Not much scenery until you get to Marathon. If you stay in Marathon it's about 50 minutes to Key West. Driving over 7 Mile Bridge is breath taking. My recommendation would be to fly into Key West. Other than Marathon the other Keys have limited restaurants. If you haven't heard Duval Street is the main attraction in Key West. Make sure that you do the Duval Crawl!
Hot Tin Roof is a pricey restaurant but the view is awesome. Sunset Pier is at the same location.
One last thing - DO NOT SPEED! They are extremely serious about enforcing the SPEED LIMIT! Most Florida law enforcement will give you 5 over the posted speed limit. But NOT in the KEYS. Especially at night!
