I'm not particularly concerned about whether you find me credible or not.

But to be clear, I think the person should be fired not because they screwed the OP's car up, they should be fired for not owning up to it and instead letting him walk out with the car that way.

That damage is to obvious for me to believe the tech didn't know about it. If they're that stupid that they didn't even notice what they did, they should be fired for that.

So, fire for an honest mistake, no. Fire for hiding that mistake and trying to screw over the customer, yes.
