You do need he 2 years of fire science which include ..believe it or not..building construction, math, architecture, chemistry, etc.. after that for the most part the academy is the one that teaches you the real world stuff. The degree is good to have, but honestly, with the FD, they are looking for a couple things, longevity for the department, and will you get hurt picking up a box or will you be a go getter we can count on for 20+ years. Np TJ just don't like being sensored , I could see If I said something really aweful or rude or used foul language , none of which was the case
