Biggest danger of running all the gas out is sucking up sediment into the pickup screen and whatever other filter they have integrated into the pump. Typically NOT a problem in a car that is so new.
It is generally considered beneficial for the longevity of a fuel pump to keep it submerged in fuel, which acts as a heatsink. This does not take much gas. This is mainly a problem for those maniacs out there who like driving around with less than 1/8 tank and the fuel light always on.
