At my girlfriend's (now-wife's) apartment complex a few years ago some little ba$tards set off fireworks in the parking lot. I was amazed that the paint on my Civic wasn't damaged, but I did get permanent chips in the back glass.
Within a week or two of getting my first Camaro (02) someone managed to dent in the hood in a parking lot where literally no other cars were around. Only thing I could figure was it was deliberate or someone ran a trailer hitch over it.
People suck, and I feel your pain. The good thing is, from the look of it you may be able to fill that with some touch-up paint.
