Before I bought my SS 1LE, which has the ZL1 diff, I had a 2016 2SS M6 that put down 460rwhp and I made plenty of passes at the strip on slicks. It never made noises or felt like it was about to give up the ghost. Brandon Hill has over 600rwhp in his auto car and still has the factory diff and half-shafts, I believe. At least he did last time I was at GPI.
I will say this, if you are a manual car, run slicks, not drag radials. Slicks absorb a lot of the energy from hard launches by wrinkling. DRs are hard and your drivetrain will take the brunt of that energy. You will be more likely to break things with DRs and a manual.
