It will be around for a long time.
Like I mentioned in the other thread, while there was some evidence that could make you go hmmm I could see it going away the Camaro's importance is more tied in with Cadillac and needing Camaro volume to sustain the activity at the plant.

BUT, adding time to the Gen6 definately gives room in the timeline between the C8 and Gen7 for either an LT5 Gen6 Camaro or a N/A Z/28.

N/A Z/28??? WELL, rumors are the C8 will debut with a reworked LT1 (let's call it the LT2). The LT2 seems like a candidate for the Gen7 SS engine. But the next engine in the C8 lineup is rumored to be a 5.5L DOHC FPC N/A motor good for 600+ HP. That engine would make a great 6th Gen Z/28 motor. BUT, under the old 6th Gen schdule, it would be too late to the party to go in the 6th Gen. Now that the 6th Gen has been extended two years, that gives time for a N/A Z/28.

Assuming the new C8 is a 2020MY, the 5.5L engine could debut as a 2021MY. That means the Camaro can have it in 2022 or 2023MY. This aligns nicely with the extended Camaro schdule. Plus, the Alpha chassis is already ahead of the competition, so there is no need to do backflips to get the Camaro on a new chassis.

If it were up to me, I would upgrade the ZL1 to the LT5 engine in 2021MY with a refresh of the outer looks and inner tech, then debut the Z/28 with the 5.5L in 2022MY.

I know that won't happen, but part of it could (either or).

Better looks and MOAR POWWAR would sell better. Just sayin....
I know those are just rumors, I see absolutely no way the C8 has a 5.5L FPC.
