We had one of our Engineers testing these a few years back. For road race applications you want to use the Toyota Prius or the Chevy Volt 12v DC AC compressor. Runs with no load on the engine and no WOT shutoff. You can also rig a solenoid to keep the compressor engaged during competition mode.
These, if installed properly, will maintain 40-50*F below ambient air temps at a fraction of the overall weight of a ice box system. I have not studied the WeaponX system, but they all are not that complicated to install and when done correctly are awesome. Keep in mind, at 115* IAT 1-2 degrees of timing will be pulled, at 150 3-5, and above as much as 8-10 plus. On a stock ZL1 we saw a 40 WHP gain over the stock ambient air temp system. And total weight added as app 12#. But that was 5-6 years ago. On a 1000 HP build it was not as effective, but in the 1/4 mile started at 43* when staging, at the stripe it was still below 70* and by the time we were back in the pits it was back down to below 40*. That was with the AC comp disengaging at WOT during the run.
It takes less than 3 minutes to go from 120* IAT-2 to below 45*F.
We don't sell or make them, just contributing the testing done years ago.
