Sounds like the EU versions programming to pass noise regulations at specific speeds. I have that. It is by design!
Technically it's possible to tune it out completely, but you may lose the legal right to drive the car, if that is something to fuss you.
On top of that, I heard of an official software update which ought to improve the behavior somehow - you'd need to check with your dealer.
