Just trying to be fair, here, but as far as age, they are equally as old.
I would agree in thinking the S550 < Alpha, but the S550 is still a very good platform. A good driver of a stock GT350R and SS 1LE (both "stock") will be back and forth on track for the most part.
If there is any question about how good the Alpha platform is, look at what kind of performance it can provide without aftermarket components. Then, look at what aftermarket components are even available and what their specs are...

I know that the Alpha is a 2016 in a Camaro, but then maybe it came first in a Cadillac in 2013?
