Are you talking about the red markers that show up or are you talking about the ones that tell you which gear you are in?
For the red ones, I am going to make an assumption you have to hit a set gear RPM or speed for them to light. IMO While on the street, mine have only every lite to shift from 1st to 2nd. On the track I would think are a different story.
