Are you shifting the car or are you leaving it in auto?

When in manual mode, what can happen is that if you are shifting too late you are hitting the red line, the gas gets cut for a bit, the car shifts, and gas isn't allowed back for a moment and this feels like traction control stepping in for a moment.

Also, you shouldn't have to hold for 8 seconds. I think it only takes about 4-5 seconds.
