For Mustang, GT is part of the basic roll-out, so they add Performance Packs. Then they follow with the next level / top level offering (ZL1, Shelby). Along the way there may be specialty and/or tribute models launched (Fifty, Hot Wheels, Bullitt, Laguna Seca). All this is to maintain the hype and the press visibility of the brand throughout the life cycle and maintain showroom traffic. It even happens on pickup trucks.

Rumors of a 385-hp version are already out there.
